ABOUT MARY
Mary Guillermin discovered Jessica Lynn Johnson and the Soaring Solo community in July 2019 and she has been writing and performing solo shows ever since. The three plays of “Love on the Other Side of Death: A Trilogy” were written and performed between 2022 and 2025. Mary’s biographical first show premiered in March 2020 and she is currently writing her fifth show.
Prior to discovering the joys of storytelling, Mary was, and still is, a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, a prolific collage artist and a guide to the Feminine Divine after devoting five decades to the Divine Mother and Her Daughter.
Mary is the widow of John Guillermin, a film director who directed some of the biggest blockbusters of the 1970s: Towering Inferno, Death on the Nile and the ’76 King Kong. Mary co-wrote and edited the only existing book about her husband’s body of work comprised of 34 feature films.
Published in 2020, John Guillermin: The Man, The Myth, The Movies, won two bronze awards in 2022: The IPPY Independent Publishing Book Awards & Living Now Publishing Book Awards.
In 2021, Mary became the adoptive mother of Michael Brooks, a white hat hacker turned security consultant extraordinaire, who brought her the deep joys of motherhood.
Mary resides in the heart of Topanga Canyon among the trees, wildlife and mountains where she enjoys a magical way of life. Every scene in her plays is taken from her real life. The single purely imagined scene is a dialogue between the Island Queen and Mary in Part III - everything else is faithful to her true life experience.
